Spotlight on Teddy Lyons. Theodore Amar Lyons pitched for the White Sox from 1923 to 1946. During that time he amassed a record of 260 wins and 230 losses with 1,073 strikeouts and an ERA of 3.67. If you aren't impressed by those numbers, please remember that during those years the White Sox were a second division fixture. Recognizing this, Yankee Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy once quipped "If he had played for the Yankees, he would have won over 400 games." Ted Lyons was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1955. Among the other White Sox Hall of Famers are these who were elected as Chicago White Sox: Luis Aparicio, Luke Appling, Eddie Collins, Charles Comiskey, George Davis, Red Faber, Nellie Fox, Ray Schalk, Bill Veeck and Ed Walsh. White Sox retired numbers include 2 Nellie Fox, 3 Harold Baines, 4 Luke Appling, 9 Minnie Minoso, 11 Luis Aparicio, 16 Lyons, 19 Billy Pierce, 42 Jackie Robinson and 72 Carlton Fisk.
